Frequently asked questions
What is the Pledge?
A short public statement, first published on January 1, 2026, by Jews who love Torah. It commits signers to keep supporting Torah, Yeshivos, Kollelim and Talmidei Chachamim, and to give only to Torah institutions that do not publicly speak against, protest or delegitimize the IDF while it defends Jewish lives. Read the full text.
Was it called something else before?
Yes. It was first circulated as “the letter.” We now call it the Pledge, because that is what signing it is. The text has not changed.
Does the Pledge take a position on the draft?
No. In its own words, it “takes no position on the current debate regarding the draft. It addresses only the propriety of public opposition to the IDF during an ongoing defense of Jewish life.”
Does signing mean I support a political party?
No. The Pledge is about where we direct our own tzedakah. Separately, ahead of the October 27, 2026 election, this site explains why we support HaTzibur HaHaredi ({H(“זך”)}). You can sign the Pledge whatever your vote.
What is published when I sign?
Only your initials (for example “M. K.”) and, if you entered one, your city. Your full name, e-mail, phone, street address and signature are never published, sold or shared.
Can I sign if I do not live in Israel?
Yes. The Pledge concerns how each of us gives, wherever we live.
Do you collect donations?
No. We do not solicit or accept donations. The Organizations page links directly to each organization’s own donation page; none of them has endorsed us and we receive nothing from them.
Where do the “Latest Updates” come from?
The Latest Updates page automatically collects headlines every hour from the public RSS feeds of established Israeli and Jewish news outlets. We show the headline, source and time and link to the full story on the publisher’s site.
When and where do I vote?
Israel’s Knesset election is on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Israeli citizens can find their polling station on the official gov.il polling-station finder (איתור קלפי).
Who runs Torah Coalition?
An independent group of signatories to the Pledge. We are not a political party, a yeshiva or a fundraising organization, and we keep the focus on the Pledge rather than on ourselves.
